PTSA statement in support of the Shoreline school district's Ethnic Studies curriculum

The Shorewood PTSA supports the district's efforts to create an Ethnic Studies curriculum that acknowledges our country's brutally racist history and that examines how white supremacist thinking is still directing much of our country's actions to this day.

Our support of this curriculum is guided by the WA state PTA resolution on anti-racism 2.26 Dismantling Institutional and Systemic Racism and the Shoreline school district’s resolution for a focus on Ethnic Studies,

Our PTSA believes that our students are strong and capable young adults engaged in developing their thoughts and beliefs in regards to the world in which they are growing up.  As adults, they will shape the future of our country and we support education that informs and empowers them to build humanity as an equal and equitable species.
