VOLUNTEER FOR SHOREWOOD PTSA
Shorewood PTSA is made up of dedicated volunteers who support the programs and activities at Shorewood High School. We welcome participation from all parents and guardians.

Elected Officer Positions
PRESIDENT:
-
Serves as spokesperson for the Shorewood (SW) PTSA
-
In collaboration with the SW PTSA Board of Directors, identifies and executes annual goals in alignment with the mission of National PTA and WA State PTA (WSPTA)
-
Presides at all meetings
-
With approval of the executive committee, makes one-year appointments to positions and committees as specified in the standing rules
-
Disseminates and communicates all information received which is pertinent to PTA purposes and programs
-
Collaborates with school administration regarding PTSA and/or school-related events
-
Assures representation at PTA Council general membership meetings
VICE PRESIDENT or CO-PRESIDENT:
-
In collaboration with the SW PTSA Board of Directors, identifies and executes annual goals in alignment with the mission of National PTA and WA State PTA (WSPTA)
-
Assists the president with their duties as necessary
-
Presides at meetings in the absence of the president
SECRETARY:
-
Prepares accurate minutes of all meetings
-
Serves as “historian” for the records and legal documents of the SW PTSA
-
Is responsible for correspondence as requested by the president
-
Maintains a roster of the members of all standing and special committees
-
Maintains a roster of members
TREASURER:
-
Serves as chair of the budget committee and presents the budget to the membership

Maintains accurate financial records
-
Receives, issues receipts for, and deposits promptly in an authorized PTA account all funds, and disburses funds according to the approved yearly budget
-
Presents a written financial report every month and at other times as requested by the President or by a member of the Board of Directors

Closes the books at the end of the fiscal year and submits the books and records for financial review to the financial review committee no later than thirty days thereafter

Submits any dues collected to WSPTA by deadlines prescribed by WSPTA policy

Files the annual 990EZ or 990 with the IRS
Committee Positions

PTSA newsletter editor: This is a great fit for someone who likes to work with written content and information. We will help with providing the content.

Staff appreciation team: Kaija Dalan is our energetic staff appreciation chair this year but she can use extra support! A fun opportunity for those who like to organize events so that we recognize our dedicated SW staff throughout the school year.

Parent education: For those folks who like to plan and organize events or are into logistical things. We need help with bringing informative speaker programs to our community.

Nominating committee: Three openings for our nominating committee to assist with identifying candidates for the 2023-24 executive positions - you won’t be working alone with this one! This opportunity aligns directly with our diversity and inclusion goals. Become a part of this important work!

Forefront Suicide Prevention volunteer
Forefront Suicide Prevention is looking for caregiver/parent volunteers! Shorewood and Shorecrest participate in Forefront in the Schools, a program designed by UW to guide schools through policy development and curriculum improvements to help address mental health and suicide prevention efforts. Twice a year we give a suicide prevention presentation and we need presenters! Click here for more info.
